Mapps that Served in the Civil War - Samuel Mapp (2x)

NOTE: There are two Samuel Mapp’s from Eastern Shore Virginia (ESVA). It looks like their military files were combined. The first Samuel (1) lived to come home and have a family. The second Samuel (2) was court martial, convicted and executed for mutiny. I will attempt to separate the records to give each man his own story.

REMARKS: Mustered-Out May 17, 1866 in Galveston, Tx.
SERVICE INFORMATION (Summary): According to his hospital record, Samuel (18 yrs old) was from Eastern Shore Virginia, single, and his next of kin was Cecila Mapp living in Franktown, Northampton County, VA. Samuel was admitted to the hospital with an abscess jaw on April 11, 1866.

REMARKS: Samuel Mapp was executed (shot) on April 20, 1865 at City Point, VA (https://www.nps.gov/pete/learn/historyculture/upload/African-Americans-at-City-Point-for-web-3.pdf). He was charged and convicted of mutiny, disobedience of orders, and threatening the life of a superior officer. 
SERVICE INFORMATION (Summary): Samuel was assigned to the post bakery before his trial and execution.

GENEALOGY: Samuel’s civil war records stop at his execution. I thought there would be a next of kin, but unfortunately there is no mention.
